How to create a Food Item using Gleeca?
Creating a food item and mapping it to your digital menu based on days and timing is easy. You can add a food item yourself or get free remote support from Gleeca Concierge Support Team for up to 4 hours if you raise a ticket within two days of signing up. To get the support, you need to submit a support ticket from your dashboard.
Go to your branch and click manage.
Click the “Items” options and define the item categories. To know about configuring the menu and item category, click here.
Item categories act as the sub-categories of your menu. You shall create item categories such as Starter, Beverages, Main Course, Gravy, etc. Once you have created the item categories, let’s see the next steps in adding the food item to your menu.
Go to the Items tab and click the “Create New” button, and enter the item name; if you wish to show the composition of the item, then mention it under the item description (For example, Roasted Chicken Pie– Roast chicken, baby carrots, and spring peas topped with flakey pie crust). Add the cost of the item. Select the tax group and declare whether the tax is inclusive or exclusive of the item cost.
If you wish to show discounted cost, enable “Add Discounted Price”. Now enter the regular price and discounted price of the item.
Then select the Item category. Include variants or addons if needed. Select kitchen station to map the item to a particular kitchen station. By default, the items are allocated to the main kitchen. This feature will be helpful if you manage multiple kitchens and want gleeca to send cooking instructions automatically once an order is generated. Upload an image of a food item if you have one. You can do this at any time. Also, select some tags that you want to display alongside the food item. e.g., Is Recommended, Is Popular or Is New, etc.
If your restaurant offers Non-vegetarian, you need to select veg or non-veg. Then select the order types applicable to the food item. Eg: Chola Puri will look good in dine-in compared to Takeaway. So if you decide only to have Chola puri on dine-in you shall disable other order types.
Finally, select the days and time slots (Menu Classification) and click create button to finish adding an Item.
